Dear Dads...we have some random activities to share with you

Dads,

Big K is a bit strict at the moment but we are okay with that. Teagan is now going to bed nicely (well nearly) and she has a promised reminder posted on the end of the cot. And Lachlan is being less fussy over his food: he has to eat some mouthfuls of most things and knows it will make him ride the bike faster....it is okay Dad because Big K holds up the number of fingers that matches the mouthfuls I need to eat so it is not a big problem...I ate half
a salmon sandwich for lunch even though I announced that I don't like it. Oh, and Teagan doesn't want Big K to tell her Grandma that she wAs pulled out of the swimming pool today by her Mum and didn't get to buy the swim cap she really wanted! Our big cousin April explained that Big K is strict, we think we know what she means. But you know what? We are really happy here especially just playing in the backyard - it is one of the best things ever.

Love from Lachlan and Teagan

P.S Daddy Grant....I went to bed at 6.45pm because I was tired and Big K woke me up at 8 am this morning....mind you I woke up in the night
Because I thought Nigel had gone away....it got fixed fast and I didn't really get upset...Big K is in the room just over from me and she hears everything!

Dear Dads we have turned into Dragons

Dear Dads

It is really cold now so we decided to turn into fire breathing Dragons. They say the Northern motorway is still open and it is only raining in Kurow but we have hail and snow settled at Grandmas.

Mum/Big K let us help her finish our tails. Lachlan chose the fabrics with Big K and Teagan taught Lachlan how to stuff them. We found the tutorial on this blog site - www.tatertotsandjello.blogspot.com - the blog was loaded in March 2011.

Dadda/Dad, we still love you and we are really sorry for not talking to you when you went to all the effort to telephone from Japan/Qatar. We think and talk about you but we figure that you are safe and happy. We are off to play baby Dragons again.

Love from
Teagan and Lachlan

P.S I love my Mum (Eileen) too and I know she is busy and happy.
P.P.S. Lachlans slept for 12h 30 min last night.

Dear Dads...we are too busy to talk to you

Dear Dads

We are busy, we still love you but we are doing very busy things so we haven't had time (nor the inclination) to Skype you. Lachlan says he is growing good dragon teeth now.

Love from Lachlan and Teagan.

Sometimes some friendships just last the distance...

There is little to say in this blog post as the photos nearly speak for themselves. Although, I am informed that the soundtrack included reference to honey and sweetie.

Teagan did have a lovely day catching up with Declan! She is also treasuring the precious bag of play dough equipment gifted by Declan..... it may need to travel to Dunedin before being posted back to Auckland....it is not traveling back to Doha!

It has been over two weeks...technology is a struggle!

This time I have an excuse for not blogging for over two weeks; technology.  New Zealand does not have it easy (in my opinion) for the internet.  Every gigabit is expensive and when One has to resort to a base level VODEM functionality returns to the birth years of the internet.  But I am not complaining right now as my littlest brother has a great system and spare capacity!  Hence my first blog since arriving HOME.

Our trip was exceedingly long and exceedingly uneventful (mind the 10 day delay in receiving one suitcase).  Teagan slept through an entire 8 hour layover including security checking and passport control - a lanky sleeping 5 year old is not easy to HEAVE around along with carry-on-luggage.  But our 45 hour journey seemed to finish quicker than expected with Teagan taking off after the glorious Dunedin port entry passport stamp and flying through to the greeting area alone to find her long-lost Jasmine (never mind anyone else!).  If you ever get the chance of choosing Dunedin as the entry point to New Zealand, you will not be disappointed...the cafe, the sheep, the smell, the frosty cold are too good to believe.

Our first two weeks disappeared in a blur of visits, unpacking, rust trike riding, school and farewelling Ross back to the sandpit. Now we are up in Auckland enjoying a slightly improved temperature and delighting in the beach at Mairangi Bay - I hope I have got first dibs in on buying Grant's house when he inevitably moves on to his next home!

A free day.....

Since retiring I have been flat out doing the things I love.  The mornings are full of the financial markets, afternoons during school time consists of 5 - 7 year olds and now when I am lucky enough, I get to sew and knit.  Sunday was one such free day...it was fabulous, all day to my wants, although, at 5.30pm Teagan did request a meal (!!??).  The outcome was an ecstatic winged insect.....

The wings were planned after reading a blog that I like to follow click here to link to the blog post.  And began on Saturday night with a mission to the fabric souqs with a friend, made all the easier by her having a driver!  I came home with Liberty cotton print, a gorgeous Japanese cotton and a Japanese satin.  Certainly fabrics of a quality not normally destined for little girls play clothes!  But, I have found it easier to buy the higher quality fabrics here rather than negotiate my way through the eclectic mix of cheaper alternatives and their outlets!
